Favorite products of 2024: fragrance, body, skin, and haircare
Welcome back to the second part of my favorite products of 2024! Today we’re talking all things fragrance, body, skin, and a little bit of haircare.
Although my skincare favorites don’t drastically change from year to year, this was a good year for fragrance and body care. Let’s get into it…
2024 release – This was a big year for Phlur and Glossier!
-
Phlur Vanilla Skin – just a perfectly balanced vanilla scent that’s sweet, but not too dessert-like, with a hint of sugar but a sandalwood base to ground it.
-
Phlur Soft Spot – a soft floral musk that really surprised me because there’s nothing harsh about this one. It’s a skin scent with some soft brightness and some mandarin notes but it’s certainly not a bright fragrance, and it’s like a soft freshly washed t-shirt that’s been drying in the sun.
-
Phlur Strawberry Letter – a dark fruity fragrance that is unique to my nose because of its heavy amber and sandalwood base, but the fruitiness of the strawberry really adds a beautiful brightness that doesn’t feel like it should work, but it does.
-
Glossier You Reve – the new Glossier fragrances were surprise hits for me, especially since the original You doesn’t work for me. Reve smells like what I can best describe as a fancy hotel lobby, with a plummy marzipan and a musky base. It’s decadent without feeling heavy.
-
Glossier You Doux – the smoky, woody version of You that I was sure that I wouldn’t like but the musky creaminess and spicy myrrh won me over. Despite the woodiness, it still feels like a very light and soft scent, which makes it a great addition to my skin scent wardrobe.
Other 2024 favorites – This doesn’t include some of my everyday essentials like Juliette Has a Gun Not a Perfume, Phlur Missing Person, or Dedcool Milk. And while we’re at it, I also consider Chanel Coco, Fenty Eau de Parfum, and Maison Margiela On a Date my holy trinity of perfect scents (and also killer evening/date scents)
-
Snif Crumb Couture is a heavenly sweet buttery croissant scent that is comforting and sweet and cozy, and it was one of my most worn scents this year. It’s delicious paired with Obvious Parfums Une Pistache, it makes a delicious nutty sweet combination. Une Pistache is beautiful on its own as a true earthy nutty pistachio scent!
-
Byredo Mixed Emotions – a beautiful smoky tea scent with a sweet cassis to add some sweetness that totally captivated me this year. I had been hoarding samples until I finally got a full size bottle for Christmas.
-
Boy Smells Vanilla Era – a spicy sweet vanilla that is unlike any other vanilla fragrance I have with notes like white tulip, black pepper, frankincense, black amber, and coffee that are hard to imagine together on paper but blend together beautifully into something that is seductive but also wearable for daytime.
-
5 Sens In Too Deep – not a terribly unique sugary musky fragrance, but a lovely one to wear on days I want something sweet but not cloying, and I found myself reaching for this far more than I expected to.
Best Body Mists – after a rocky start with the revival of body mists, I found some that I really loved in the past year!
-
Salt and Stone Bergamot and Hinoki Body Mist – a soft citrus and earthy hinoki scent that layers beautifully with the body wash, and is my preferred post shower and pre-bedtime scent.
-
Ellis Brooklyn Vanilla Sin Body Mist – this vanilla cherry body mist is delightfully rich and deep for a body mist and has enough vanilla and almond to keep it from going into cough syrup territory.
-
Phlur Amber Haze Body Mist – a sweet and spicy saffron-amber scent that is sophisticated for a body mist, and lasts longer than most body mists on me (5-6 hours).

Shower Gel –
-
Salt and Stone Antioxidant Body Wash in Bergamot and Hinoki – a consistent favorite year after year for its nice lather and nondrying formula that seems to make my skin extra soft on ts own.
-
Necessaire Body Wash in Hinoki (code STEPHANIE10 for 10% off) – the newer scents from the brand are all fantastic, but I have a soft spot for Hinoki for its calming earthy scent with a bit of magnolia and basil to make it feel fresh.
Body Moisturizer –
-
Josie Maran Whipped Body Butter – the new scents in this iconic body butter formula are heavenly, and the formula itself glides onto my skin and absorbs within a couple minutes while keeping my skin hydrated for the day. Vanilla Vibes is my favorite scent.
-
Necessaire Body Lotion (STEPHANIE10 for 10% off) – my favorite year after year for its easy light formula that absorbs quickly and provides everyday moisture. I like to layer with a heavy body oil for dry winter days, but it’s enough on its own the rest of the year.
Body Oil –
-
Caudalie Moisturizing Fig Body Oil Elixir – an absolute dream with a thicker (but not super thick) formula that comes in a spray bottle. It’s intensely moisturizing and the scent smells like fresh figs.
-
Nerra Dry Body Oil – a fantastic dry oil formula that is intensely hydrating while feeling lightweight, and once again, I love the spray applicator.
-
Runner up: Saltair Nourishing Body Oil – another lightweight formula that provides great everyday hydration along with a lineup of delicious ocean and tropical inspired scents. It’s not quite enough moisture for when my skin is extra dry, but it’s fine for normal days.
Hand Cream –
-
Byredo Mojave Ghost Hand Cream – a lightweight non-greasy hand cream that can still keep my hands hydrated in winter weather, plus the mojave ghost scent is so refreshing and comforting.
-
Necessaire Hand Cream (Code STEPHANIE10 for 10% off) – for more of an everyday maintenance hand cream, the Necessaire one is hard to beat. The formula absorbs quickly and is not greasy at all. I’ve gone through multiple tubes of this!
Dry Shampoo –
-
I Dew Care Tap Secret Mattifying Dry Shampoo Powder – the best for on the go bang touch-ups, or traveling without needing an aerosol dry shampoo. The formula is texturizing and oil absorbing without feeling gritty, and the pouf applicator makes application quick and precise.
-
Living Proof Advanced PHD Dry Shampoo – my holy grail dry shampoo for years because it actually makes my hair feel clean without adding grit or heaviness, and it’s the only dry shampoo that works on day 3 or 4 hair on me.
Leave-in Conditioner – Briogeo Rosarco Milk Leave in Conditioner – the only leave-in I go back to over and over again with my thick straight hair. I feel like it visibly reduces little bits of frizz and baby hair without weighing my hair down.
First Cleanse Oil Cleanser: Niche Beauty Lab Oil Based Cleanser – this light oil takes off makeup and sunscreen so easily without any fuss or residue at all. It’s one of the lighter oil cleansers I’ve used, so it doesn’t feel greasy at all, and doesn’t leave a film on my eyes.
Second Cleanse: Rhode Pineapple Refresh Cleanser – this completely beat every other cleanser I tried throughout the year because of its rich balm texture that quickly turns into a decadent lather that cleanses my skin and rinses off completely. It makes my skin feel extra soft without being drying. It can double as a first cleanse on light makeup days but I love this most as a second cleanser.
Face mist:
-
Peach and Lily Glass Skin Veil Mist – an ultra-fine mist that is soothing and hydrating and great for adding immediate hydration after my shower before I start the rest of my skincare routine.
-
Tower 28 SOS Daily Rescue Spray – a hypochlorous acid spray that is antibacterial and keeps my skin from breaking out or drying out when I’m traveling. I also love to use this right after I’m done working out.
Essence: Superegg Pure Transparency Treatment Essence (code BEAUTYUNHYPED for 15% off) – an essence that is intensely hydrating without being heavy or sticky and is packed with ingredients like Tremella Mushroom, peptides, and Galactomyces Ferment Filtrate to soothe, hydrate, and help firm skin.
Eye Cream: InnBeauty Project Bright and Tight Eye Cream – a gel cream for eyes that packs a punch with moisture while actually providing a brightening and depuffing effect. It sits beautifully under makeup but is also hydrating enough for me to use at night so it’s just an all around great eye cream.
Serum:
-
Equal RXN Oat Milk PHA serum – a fantastic hydrating and soothing barrier support serum with snow mushroom and oat milk with a touch of PHA for exfoliation.
-
Mother Science Molecular Hero Serum – truly a hero product for brightening dark spots and improving the overall texture and radiance of my skin. Malassezin, a strong antioxidant alternative, is what makes this so effective while still feeling gentle enough to use every night (paired with my regular vitamin c in the morning)
Moisturizer:
-
Allies of Skin Peptide and Antioxidants Advanced Daily Firming Treatment – packed with peptides, antioxidants, and ferulic acid, this moisturizer packs a punch while feeling silky and just the right weight to sink into my skin without feeling heavy. I’ve used a couple tubes and always love the look and feel of my skin when I use this.
-
Superegg Sound Renewal Serum Cream (code BEAUTYUNHYPED for 15% off) – a gel cream that just melts into my skin in a light comforting layer of hydration. It’s great as a daytime moisturizer for my combination skin, and I can even just use this at night during the summer. For drier skin or colder weather, this layers beautifully underneath heavier moisturizers as well.
Lash Serum: The Ordinary Multi-Peptide Lash and Brow Serum – still my favorite for keeping my lashes healthy and prevents them from breaking so they are actually able to grow to their full length.
SPF:
-
Beauty of Joseon Relief Sun SPF – this one is as good as everyone says! It has a super light lotion texture that just immediately blends into my skin with barely any blending. I’ve tried a fair amount of sunscreens and I’ve never tried something that felt so unlike a sunscreen. It has some radiance to it but I don’t feel like it looks overly dewy or shiny on my combination skin.
-
Iris and Romeo Weekend Skin SPF 50 – a fantastic mineral option that is juicy and glowy without being heavy or greasy, and also didn’t make my skin more greasy over the day.
-
Runner Up: Ultra Violette Lean Screen – still the best sunscreen I’ve tried for oily skin and super humid weather because of how oil controlling it is. It has a heavier texture, but once it’s blended out on my skin, it doesn’t feel heavy, and it works so well to keep my shine at bay on even the most humid days.
That wraps up my compilation of favorite beauty products for the past year. I was going to add brushes into this section, but I realized my favorite brushes haven’t really changed a lot in the past few years so I’ll devote a whole post just for my brushes – look out for that coming soon!
In the meantime, what were you favorite fragrance finds, body care revelations, or skincare essentials?
