They really do make a difference
My new art I stalked this original artwork from a book about Steely Dan on artist Joan LeMay’s website for literal months—maybe even an entire year—before I went for it. It’s a portrait of opera singer Cathy Berberian, who is name-checked in a pretty obscure Steely Dan song, and it delights me every time I look at it. Joan’s work always reminds me of the esteemed portrait painter Alice Neel, and I really appreciate her nervy use of color. Also, if the caftan Cathy is wearing here existed in real life, I’d snap it up in an instant. Just FYI, you can buy a numbered print of this portrait here.
