Packing list: Mexico
A bit of housekeeping: I am going on vacation this week, and will be posting lightly. Expect me back here on the regular Monday the 10th. Meanwhile, I am so excited for this trip because I never take beachy winter vacations, and could really use one after the frigid temps and all-around bad vibes we’ve been enduring here in New York. My most important packing rule—which is to adhere to a tight color palette so everything matches everything else—doesn’t really apply here. It’s going to be warm enough that all I need to bring are a bunch of caftans, and caftan-adjacent dresses. This one is a favorite of mine, by a brand called Everyday Ritual. Their stuff sells out fast, so if you’re at all interested, do not delay.
And of course I’ll be packing my classic Emerson Fry caftan, as well as this one I showed you a couple of weeks ago, also from Emerson Fry.
This Natalie Martin dress is 100% Rayon, but do NOT let that deter you—it’s as soft as cotton. It also comes in a ton of other really good prints (though the fabrications vary).
I love my crisp-looking poplin shirt dress—with just the right amount of stretch—from Universal Standard; I also have it in black, and might just bring that one too.
Predictably, I loathe shopping for swimwear, but I’m very happy with my new swimsuit: the snap-buttons are sexy without revealing too much. And the brand, Andie, makes sizes up to 3X.
My new gingham sun hat is too cute for words, and totally packable.
I finally got some sunglass readers so that I don’t have to squint while trying to read on the beach.
I never leave home—even if I’m traveling somewhere warm—without my Chan Luu scarf, because you never know when you’ll encounter some full-blast air conditioning or a frigid airplane. It’s super-lightweight, but also super-warm, and my favorite scarf by far.
I debated whether or not to buy these Birks for ages last year before I finally went for it, and I can’t believe I was ever not sure. The shade goes with pretty much everything, and the platform sole adds a nice amount of height.
How adorable are these glittery jelly sandals? I like that you can just slide your feet into them, with no need for buckling.
I feel like my face never feels really clean after a flight, but these wipes really do the trick, without being too drying. Get 20% off sitewide with the code KIM20 (and maybe check out this fantastic serum too; I’ve been loving it).
I used my new Cotopaxi cosmetic bag on my recent trip to Houston, and it is just so perfect, with plentiful compartments for all my stuff. It comes in an array of color combinations, and the one you get is a surprise, which is fun.
I like to download TV shows and podcasts on to my phone for the flight, and I’ll be listening with my new Bose earbuds, which are just stupendous, and—if you listen to music as much as I do—well worth the cash outlay. Still, here’s a cheaper pair that I’ll bet is also pretty good.
